Abstract

This work analyzes the contribution of Rocha Lima to the studies of the Portuguese syntax in his Normative grammar of the portuguese language (Gramática normativa da língua portuguesa), especially regarding the classification of the verbal complements. Published in 1957, this book played a very important role in the teaching of the Portuguese language in the second half of the past century, position that it still mantains at the present time.
