O traço de animacidade
Keywords:
animacy, verb agreement, Case, formal feature, semantic featureAbstract
This study is about animacy, under the generative framework. Granted the evidence that animacy in some languages is involved and syntactically expressed through the case-agreement system, here the hypothesis is that animacy is a formal feature inserted in the lexicon, causing an early impact onto the syntactic operations performed with the DP. Moreover, since information about animacy also causes an irrefutable impact on sentence semantics, a second hypothesis launched here is that besides the formal feature, there is a semantic feature related to animacy that is interpreted at the Logical Form.
