O presente trabalho da conhecida e operosa professora da Universidade Federal da Paraíba integra pesquisa maior, em que está envolvido um grupo de professores/ pesquisadores e estudantes da referida instituição de ensino superior, intitulada "Aspectos léxico-semânticos da linguagem regional na obra de José Lins do Rego", cuja preocupação é fazer um "re-conhecimento da realidade paraibana através das obras desse grande escritor" já que revelam "retrato bem real do nosso povo, seu falar, costumes, crenças e tradições, seu modo de viver, pensar e agir dentro do seu universo antropo-cultural 11 (p.19).
