Author Biography

Cândido Jucá [Filho], Academia Brasileira de Filologia

(1900-1982) Foi um dos mais prestigiados filólogos e gramáticos brasileiros do século XX. Bacharel em Direito, iniciou sua carreira no magistério como auxiliar de ensino na Escola Quinze de Novembro. Foi professor da Escola Visconde de Cairu, catedrático de Língua Portuguesa e Literatura do Instituto de Educação do Rio de Janeiro e catedrático de Língua Portuguesa do Colégio Pedro II (1950). Pertenceu à Academia Brasileira de Filologia, à Société de Linguistique Romane e ao PEN Club do Brasil. Publicou inúmeros trabalhos filológicos, entre os quais O fator psicológico na evolução sintática (1933).
