A letter from Manuel Said Ali to Joaquim Mattoso Camara Jr., in which the Petrópolis-born scholar reports having read and appreciated a study by the great Rio de Janeiro linguist on the verb "morar" (to live) as a preposition. The letter can and should be explored as a historical document in various dimensions, including regarding the intellectual longevity of Said Ali, who was already 78 years old at the time it was written.
